Shrimpy and Fishcakes were shortly separated after birth, after a mile-long iceberg split in 2011.
The two lived apart for seven years on opposite ends of Antarctica, until one eagle-eyed researcher at the Antarctica Survey noticed the likeness.
After finding out the penguins were related, the researcher arranged a visitation for the penguins by helicopter.
The researchers report that Shrimpy and Fishcakes became friends straight away.
They were able to make up for lost time, and spent much of their first day sliding on ice bergs.
They even enjoyed eating the same kinds of seafood – especially krill.
The two pandas shared their birthday together before returning to their packs.
The researchers plan to keep the pandas in touch with monthly Skype calls.— NFN (Nice Fake News)
