Michael Shane, 17, was returning from school this week when he discovered a wallet on the street containing $7,568,291 dollars.

The money was stored on a Bitcoin wallet inside the coin pouch of the regular wallet.

Mr Shane, who was aware of the current value of the cryptocurrency, immediately took the wallet to the local police station.

There it was reunited with its owner Daniel Kay, 28, an early investor in Bitcoin.

“After I realised my wallet had come out of my pocket I was sure it was gone for good. With all the sad stories in the news at the moment it’s easy to forget how kind and generous people can be.”

Shortly after Mr. Kay announced he would be donating most of the recovered Bitcoin to a youth charity.
